Chris, I have just downloaded Kaspersky as it seems to be an all in one package. Now what I find a pain.. is that its scanning my pc with an end time of 2.00 am Saturday !! due to haveing 3 drives, now in AVG you can select what drives you want to scan and what folders to ignore ie I ignore FS and a few games as they are huge... cant seem to find a way to do this in kaspersky, which if thats the case its coming off :-(

Hold on, Tony! Don't uninstall Kaspersky just yet! I've just purchased the 3PC licence for the Internet Security suite and I'm still finding my way around. But I think you can select individual folders and files to scan. Open the Kaspersky main window and select SCAN from the menu on the left. Then choose 'My Computer'. Tick the appropriate checkboxes e.g. All Hard Drives and then click the ADD button to the right. This brings up a browse window to let you select your folders and files.

I think. :worried:

Too late its gone, a pile of pohh pooh in my opinion... a lousy interface an anoying "protection" that every time you fire something up like internet/mail you get a warning about files that when checked on google turn out to be window files .. its so hard to work with I lost my rag and binned it.....Back to AVG which never let me down... I have also found they do (AVG) an anti-spyware as well for free!! I am running that now as spysweeper is great but bloody heck it takes ages for the PC to finish loading on start up!
I have not removed spysweeper just disabled it in services and start up so I can go back to it if AVG anti spy is crap.
I think krapspersky would have been good if it had a decent interface, it amazes me why a freeware prog like AVG can do this but a payware one not? maybe they think they have to be difficult to use to justify the cost??
I am thick but not stupid :D

They do a trial AND a free unlimited version, but it's not obvious which one you're downloading. I did the same as you first time. Have another go!

I've just spent the morning trying to sort out a friend's PC. A safe user, he's been using Zone Alarm AV and firewall with no problems. Until his son returned from a year in Oz. His son's been home for a month and now his PC won't shut down, keeps freezing etc.

I suggested buying the half-price Kaspersky Internet Security to replace ZA, which he did. So far it's found 14 separate Trojans and is still scanning :o

I've left him to it........

A painful reminder that if you have kids.. buy them their own pc. You then have the satisfaction of saying 'I told you so' when it all goes wrong  Certainly worked for me ;-)
