Lancs over Lincoln
Having grown up just up the road from Scampton, I reckon this is probably one of the best photos I've seen on the net.

Re: Lancs over Lincoln
Isn't that a 'still' from the original 'Dam Busters' 1952/3 film?
Re: Lancs over Lincoln
Definitely not a still, but very possibly a shot taken during it's filming.

Quite possible. Most of the filming or to put it another way 'live' shots in the film seem centred on 3 aircraft which are then duplicated to give the impression of groups of 3 (633 Sqn is very similar). Dunno but that looks like York Minster with the river Ouse beyond.
Nice phot however it's viewed

Re: Lancs over Lincoln
Having lived just outside Lincoln most of my life and visited relatives quite often in York, that is definitely Lincoln Cathedral.DaveB wrote:Quite possible. York

Lincoln
Dambusters was mostly filmed at RAF Hemswell, 8 miles up the A15 from Scampton. The village where I grew up is pretty much smack in between the 2 camps.

Re: Lancs over Lincoln
Hi Stafflad
Yup.. I see that now. The shot I looked at (of York Minster) was at an odd angle and it didn't look as it does in your post. Though it's possible to confuse the two, the higher single tower at Lincoln makes it rather more obvious ;-)
