The Range Part two!!!

Post by Chris Sykes »

While testing the easter egg for the range scenery i took the Hawk, as usual, for a bit o target practice and scored 8 out of 8!!! You can see there 4 smoke plumes and a splash. The splash shows the fact that theres water placement in the circle area... (Curse coast line scenery making)

Whatever

What you need to do is go on a live range in a Merlin with a GPMG and get 42 out of 400! :$

(Just to show i'm not that rubbish, I was second best out of 8. The worst was 11 :o )

How much of a bribe did you give the range officer Tom!
That is a good score, I knew a chap who never hit a thing so they had to falsified his score to get hit his ´chitty´ on the quiet
BTW it was not me, I was an RAF marksman badge holder (who could not hit a barn door with an SMG, however), but did well with a nice old SLR...I guess the ATC was to be congratulated, even if they taught us on 1917 vintage Lee Enfields.

You qualified on the ATC 303's as well Trev?

40 years later I can still feel the bruises on my shoulder and 10Fs SWO Mick Poulton yelling at me to keep it tucked in tight

I did indeed, ATC marksman with .22's in the local range and RAF marksman at annual camp I think it might have been RAF Hereford of all places. It made up for having such a crap place to have a camp (trainee cooks and suppliers), Brize and Malta the following year more than made up for it though. Yes, they did 'kick you' a tad   Not sure if I would have been any good with 'toy' they seem to use nowadays

Cor! Marksman, that takes me back! .303 at Wattisham. Took me three rounds to 'get' the bruiser kick and its aiming effect - then onto the beautiful Bren - what a gun; so smoooth... ;-)
