Hi Trev

I no longer bother with PC Pilot as since they had a new Editor it's been total twaddle

they only do commercial reviews to those that pay for 5 stars. honesty has evaporated with the new Ed

they included my stuff 3 times without asking me & didn't bother sending me that months copy.

Given up on them too mate.

Justflight are supposed to be getting back to me about a Refund but too slow for my taste

Regards
Rick

I used to write for PCPilot and when the new owners took over I submitted a suggestion for another article and was told they would get back to me, odd thing is that was over 12 months ago! I spoke to one of the editors at a flightsim show and pointed out that it seems PCPilot is now a tail that wags the dog, they seem to only give high ratings and reviews for their advertisers surprise surprise! I also pointed out that I would not write again for them as they had lost in my opinion their integrity and were no more than an expensive advertising brochure for Just Flight and other devlopers that paid for slots in their Mag, in fact I have not bought it or read it for a long time now

I had a similar thing Tony, when he took over the job, Derek (who I met at a FS meet up I was at with Del P)the new editor asked me to write some stuff for them. When I tried to contact him using anything other than e-mail, he was always 'out of the office', so I took the hint. The funny thing was, as they had a new owner, he wanted to break away from that old 'praise the product that has a half page ad' mode that they had, however it is now much worse! My comment that Rick should write (Mr Angry from Ipswich?) to them was very much 'tongue in cheek'

Trouble is these days is a lot of commercial retailers/publishers/developers seem to adopt the rather arrogant attitude that they are doing you a favour by selling a product. I've got fed up with that attitude, rather spend my money on real life flying now. Thank god there are great feeware developers around, or think I would give up on FS altogether.

Cheers Legion ;-)

I usually warm to your reports as they're not 'developer specific'.. simply matter of fact ;-)

Like you.. I'd have dived in and bought this had it not been for Rick's early probs getting the model (which he still hasn't as far as I know) but Tony's RW experiences added to the uncertainty. I'm no helicopter pilot and something that can bite quicker than a pee'd-off Cobra isn't my cup of tea.

I'm saddened that the model isn't up to scratch but ultimately happy that I didn't have to find out to my cost ;-)

Once again it seems to be a lack of beta testing and QC. Several of us here helped out with the Skysim Vixen and to my knowledge only one small thing got through our testing,
There are thousands of willing simmers who would be happy to do a bit of testing for the reward of a free product, certain companies of which Just Flight are just one, seem to think that the lost sale of product to these testers is not worth the finacial gain in selling 'shoddy' goods.

Maybe a group of us dedicated simmers should set up a website private forum for beta testers and offer services FOC to commercial companies

That's not a bad idea to be honest.

Just a thought here, but maybe you guys are not the target purchasers. It may be that this has been aimed more towards the F Lite buyers. Though if it has it should state that somewhere in the headline info.
