Re: FS x install
I've had a look in the registry on this pc.. the one with FSX installed (WinXP SP2) and it doesn't list the keys in the same way as FS9  One key is in 'Uninstall' but unmarked so you have to trawl through each individual key (and you'll find keys for FSX SP's there too) PLUS.. there is a further key in Installshield Uninstall Information :o
Once it's in.. it looks like it's a devil to get rid of if there's an error along the way  Perhaps the install routine was designed by Norton!!

Re: FS x install

but the lure of the new hawk and hunter that are about to be released for fsx is pulling me in that direction....

Re: FS x install
To be honest I just gave up when this happened. I too had the 'newer version' snag but it has got worse. I am waiting till I upgrade with a new windows sometime in the future using a new C drive. Hopefully it will install on to that.

Re: FS x install
That is correct - in XP anyway, don't have a clue about Vista. Anything in the "My Documents" folder is not touched by doing a system restore. As an aside, that means you should always maintain backups of that folder in case it gets munged up somehow because system restore will not restore anything there.
Re: FS x install
but then again , the restore might remove the parts of install of FS9
with means you may have to reinstall FS9 and then copy and paste the saved
folders from my doucuments back over the default ones.... but then again
some of the addons have to be installed to other parts............
ohhh how I abhor the bull that we have to go through to just .... have a little fun....
Whats, "unistall" mean now, even when the OS and the software have microsft printed on the box.?
"press this button and your in for a shitstorm of trouble, pain and f^@k'en aggrivation"?......

Re: FS x install
Neil,
This may be a daft question, but is the FSX folder still there? If you've deleted the reg keys, you need to do the same with the folder structure.
