Who wants a new job?
I just thought i'd post this here as someone may be interested in a new job, The Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire police helicopter is being civilianised in an attempt to get us lot back out on the street and applications are currently being accepted for Air Observers.
It's based at the Derbyshire HQ, Ripley.
If you want to get a birds eye view of me chasing people across fields like a complete numptie then have a look at http://www.nottinghamshire.police.uk/jobs/police_staff/
A mate of mine has just left the unit after promotion and had a great time with a good bunch of lads.
Rob.
PS. As i've not been around since way back into last year, Happy Christmas!

Re: Who wants a new job?
Dammit, do related work to that, but on the ground. Only have 9 years to go until retirement, will need to relocate if they considered some-one of my age (56) but have slight angina so that would definately count me out of an aircrew position.
By the way Rob, good to see you back after such a long absence, hope you had an enjoyable Christmas, just keep posting occassionally. ;-)
Nigel.

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

Re: Who wants a new job?
Cheers Nigel, I hope you had a good one too.
I don't think the age thing would be a problem what with the new(ish) descrimination laws, the angina probably would though I guess.
Give HR a ring and find out, they're reasonably nice people...

No upper age limit to retirement is there any more?Only have 9 years to go until retirement
You can keep going until you drop (oh yeah).
After all someone has to finance the unemployed/unemployable.

Been there, done that (in another wetter part of the UK ;-) ) but I am now to old and fat to even attempt applying!
I would not have a clue how to pass a modern PC (politcally correct, rather than Police Constable) interview either

Inresting stuff Rob. I assume GMP will be going down the civvie route with the air support observer positions being replaced by civilians in the not to distant future. Its already starting to take shape in custody suites where the sight of many a Police Officer clerk has gradually been replaced by civilian clerks. Its the future. Gets many of the street dodging chubby old sweats back onto the streets where they should be. ;-)
I suffer from paranoid amnesia. I can't remember who I don't trust.Re: Who wants a new job?
Interesting news that the police force have done this! At least as a crewman I might have career prospects continuing my work!
Re: Who wants a new job?
Could be a really bloomin' interesting job I'm sure. Bit far for me although I have been looking into the Army Air Corps for a bit and am quite tempted!
