Not British, but sure is Classic

Post by johnsmithe15 »

If I'd been in on FS9 from the start I might have been less excited. Ricks HS748 works a treat in FSX, however, here's a screenie from a flight I did in the Cantu/Tinmouse/Vistaliner (whatever you wish to call it) 737-200. Had to search long and hard for the liveries, and thought I would christen it with the Gatwick-Dyce run. Classic, yes. British, no but it was a fun flight.

Here I am on approach for rwy 16. Can't wait to try out the Landor livery.

Nice.
Somehow I think the early 737s look better with those engines.

My thoughts exactly Jim. I was never a real fan of the 732 but as it grew out of all proportion to what it is now.. the old girl has taken on an 'old world' charm. It's always been a lot more fun to listen to.. even with hushkits fitted!

True. The funny thing is that when an older AC is in the vicinity of EGPH these days, it stands out and you *listen* :dancer: - although at the time they were all so noisy You blanked them out a fair bit :$

Also, the '70s BA red tail livery with 'BRITISH' is the best of the lot IMO, anything looks good in it ;-) I was never keen on Landor, although the current livery is reasonable enough I suppose.

Yep Jim

I liked the red tail :) but not with the large British :-(

Landor was awful......dull grey and depressing.

Funny how it is often portrayed as white nowadays but the pearl grey was dark enough for white door outlines.

Also the BOAC blue had been change to midnight and that darkened it down further :-( .

Remember trying to make tape recordings of various Viscounts and F.27s at Turnhouse in the mid '80s and thought b***ard Tridents and One-Elevens :@ ....and Britannia 732's always fouled up the classy sounds... irony is how I wish they were still here, so refreshing nowadays to actually hear an aeroplane before you see it :o

cheers

So true and highlighted by my Andover sighting a few weeks ago. As soon as I heard it, I stopped and immediately looked in the direction of the noise. Very rare that happens these days :-(
