I've been having some weird internet problems lately and cannot figure out what to do. IE7 has been behaving badly for a couple of weeks - sites like airliners.net and hovercontrol will only display the top banners, never the page detail. I now cannot get into Windows Update - I get Error number: 0x80072EE7b every time! Since yesterday every first time connecting to broadband I get and error "TCP/IP CP error code 31" which goes away if I click redial. I have run AVGfree, Ad-Aware, Spybot and RegCure with no problems reported, apart from the usual RegCure list of nonsense.
Now my PC has 2 hard drives with a copy of XP SP2 on each. None of these problems occur on my "flightsim" PC so hardware cannot be the problem. I am completely at a loss as to what is wrong with my "family" PC. Any ideas chaps? HELP
Regards
Andy

Re: Internet problems
Depends what is installed on the 'faulty' PC. Error 31 IIRC is networking, it could be something as simple as the driver for your modem needing updated or replaced. There are known issues with this if you have had software (various) installed and then removed it - but although it's more than one program that 'could' cause this I can't remember what they are. Try a Goggle?
As for windows not updating.. hmmm not sure. Is windows security services intact?
Before going any further, try emtpying out all your temp internet files and cookies etc, then, try to select a restore point before the problems occured.
