My FS9 is starting to get the stutters (HD in action) and I wonder if it just a bit too big! Although I only have about 40% of my C drive full, most of it is FS9......which is a whopping 40 gig
I have 2 gig of ram, but would increasing that help, or should I get rid of a lot of aircraft and/or scenery that I do not use much.
I wouldn't know what to suggest to be honest. Many would argue that a regular defrag will keep things running smoothly. I suppose you do this?? OK.. I don't either My current FS9 drive (dedicated) is a little more bloated at 63.9gig and I'm starting to panic as I've only 6.95gig free :o I was hoping in a way that FSX SP2 didn't work as that was going to be all the excuse I needed to remove it and luxuriate in 500gb but as it DID work.. using it for FS9 too (a fresh install) is a no-no :-(
I dunno if an extra gig would solve your prob either mate. I have 3 installed and mine will stutter on occassion just as it did with 1. Maybe worth a try though if you have a few quid loafing with no worthy home
Try looking through your scenery library and be brutal. Anything you've not used for years.. delete it. It'll give your layers a shakeup and may be just the thing to speed you up. I did this a couple of weeks ago and it helped ;-) Of course.. deleting it from scenery won't actually delete the file. You can install it again in the future if you so wish
