Re: Nvidia 8600GT 512Mb ????
Hi Tony,
An old ATI9700pro is as good as (no.. better than) a 6600GT mate so I'd give the 8600GT a thumbs up
The 600's don't have quite the poke of the 7 or 800's but I reckon it's got enough legs for you to see some advantage/improvement ;-)
I bought a 6600GT as soon as they came out and I can't recall ever being so disappointed with a graphics card in my life. It was a replacement for a 4200ti too! :o I replaced it within a couple of months for an ATI Sapphire x700pro.. a much better card in all respects

If you're staying with DX9, the 7800GTX cards are a better bet than the 86xx series. From what I've read the 8600GT is a bit of a dud.

Hmm.. food for thought there Tony. Quite a difference between the 2 cards you're thinking of

Re: Nvidia 8600GT 512Mb ????
DX10 is ONLY Vista and ONLY on certain cards. (Not that it matters as there is bugger all using DX10 exclusivly)
FS9 is not DX10, but it doesn't matter as DX10 and DX9 are separate versions anyway, soeven though I've Vista all the DX9 stuff still works fine.
Is that what your after Tony?
