In the lyrics of that song sung by Mary (?): "Those were the days my friend, we thought that they would never end.....etc." We led the world then in airframe and engine design.

Those were also the days when the mighty Hunter could not fire its guns at altitude but the miniscule Gnat F1 could fire all its guns (two!) at altitude. Smaller target than the Hunter too. I was always surprised that the Gnat F1 was used by only two air forces as a fighter, Finland and India where it was known as "Ajeet" in the latter country. A very sound designer was Petter.

That'd be Mary Hopkins :)

Loved the Valiant.. loved it all to be honest. Crying shame there was no soundtrack but hey.. you can't have everything ;-)
