Poodling around in FS9#2 [12 shots]

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's

I thought I'd add a second 12.. this time of Aerosoft London Heathrow 2008. As I mentioned in the other thread, in it's present form.. it's pretty much a no-go area due to the amount of AI I have active. Much of BOAC has been pulled as the place was awash with VC10's and much as I love seeing them, that amount produced slideshow. I think I'll have to do the same with BEA which is a shame but a necessary evil until I get a new system ;-) The shots below show a relatively quiet period! :o

Note: ALL of the traffic in these shots are AI.. no statics are installed. ;-)

You ARE using some very competent models for AI .... you could use some with a lower number of polygons and LODs, but that is of course a matter of taste ;-)

Nice pic though, and you're right pics normally doesn't give the right impression....

Wow DaveImage

Sure is nice to see all those Brit stuff there

Interesting lineup with the Strat to Concorde and all shades in between

Really must get mine sorted.Image....as you said on the other thread there is no real telling what optimum is...... but I can assure you mines is not :$ ......so room for improvement.

Thanks for taking the time to shoot these and share :)

Dear me.. MikeFoxtrot. Yes Ben.. I've fallen in love again :kissu: I don't spend enough time up in EGCC which is where MF lives but have made a point of spending an EXCESS of time there to re-aquaint myself with the old girl and what a pleasure it is ;-) She makes good money for the VA and all I have to do is sit in the front and point her in the right direction ;-)

My AI is stuck very firmly between to era's and finding the right mix isn't easy. If I pull CalClassics Propliners.. LHR is awash with Tridents in it's present form. ComPLETELY EXCELLENT (Dude) but very heavy on FR's. If I leave an authentic BOAC in place.. DM's VC10's are MUCH in evidence and once more.. ComPLETELY EXCELLENT but not condusive to a 'working'.. 'useable' airport. Of course.. I like to see a fair splattering of 'Propliners' too so the whole thing starts to get very complex.

The Aerosoft LHR is realistic in terms of buildings and jetways but I don't think it has the 'worn' look of Frankfurt or any other of the European airports which is why I now spend more time 'over there' than 'over here'. The GS XTREME series are getting there in terms of quality versus framerates but neither Bristol (which I don't have) or Glasgow.. OR Edinburgh run the sort of VA destinations I have time to fly to. Likewise.. Stansted Xtreme is excellent but limited (dare I say it.. ) without a 'viable' 146 so I'm much looking forward to JM's latest (and I hope) greatest.

My plan for now is to 'massage' the authentic AI for LHR (especially for BEA) and remove as many of the LHR connections I can get away with in order to get it running again. My NEXT plan is to buy a ready-made Overclockers overclocked DualCore machine to open up the bits I'm missing. Pointless me going Quadcore just yet as I want WinXP for the OS ;-)

Dan..
If you know of any suitable VC10, 1-11 (all series), Concorde and Trident (all series) AI models.. I'll be pleased to hear from you ;-)

Off to Fairoaks in the morning to get some de-tanked fuel for a certain Vanguard I'm associated with. If I can prize the small digi-camera off the daughter, I might have some 'Real' shots to show you tomorrow evening :cpu:

Hi Dave

"suitable" is sure a matter of opinion.

I've had JBS' VC10's and BAC's seen from a distance they are "suitable" for me, but getting closer they aren't of cause. They are meant to be AI-only, and do not have that level of details as Davids has.

And to tell you the truth I've replaced them all with Davids models, but I think my system is a bit more "capable" than yours, so I can live with the FR reduction. I've you are seriously interested I can dig something out...

As you know I have implemented all the 70'ies FPs from RetroAI, and there are quite a few Tridents, BAC's and VC10's in there....

Henry Tomkiewicz, AIA, EvolveAI, JBS, Dee Waldron and FSpainter are maybe familiar names? I also use CalClassic and SGA models, all for AI, with the pro's and cons there is.

Great shots Dave, wait for Gary Summons Heathrow which if it follows the other in the Extreme series it should be a bit more frame rate friendly, but I guess it depends on the AI and if they are simple models or complex ones LOD stuff I know bugger all about!!

Great pictures Dave! They've also made me a bit nostalgic for Ricks Argosy...time to roll that one out of the hanger again, I think. ;-)
