Helicopter Ops?

Post by Trev Clark »

As a potential new pilot for the upcoming off shore Wessex ops, can somebody brief me as how the fixed wing rules of the host server translates to rotary wing ops?
Has it got someway of adapting its operating rules for a helicopter, I was thinking about landing on runways etc, something that I do not normally do in a helicopter, but MS ATC cannot tell the difference even in FSX!

Hi Trev,

Everything is the same for rotary as it is for fixed wing. We did have a problem with the client and the first movement trigger point which has been resolved. On fixed wing ops depending on your PC you will hear a beep from the PC for first movement and another when your wheels leave the ground. With helo's you will get the two in quick succession when you lift off vertically. When you land back at North denes or wherever, you can land on any part of the airport, one of the 'H's for example. The same with any airport, the client compares your location co-ords with the location co-ords in the database to determine whether you are the correct airport or, in your case, platform. The only thing I've noticed with helo's is the client takes a while between parking brake on and when it spits out the flight report, so be patient. Oh and don't forget your landing light, I don't think you need worry about speed!

Also, if we ever introduce skid-equipped aircraft to the fleet that don't have a parking brake already, you'll have to manually add it to the Aircraft.CFG file because without the parking brake, you can't end your flight. :)
