HP.42 in FSX:A

Post by DanKH »

It is with great pleasure that I can now say that the textures on the propellers and the cockpit has now returned to their right places in FSX with the Acc. Pack installed:

Very nice pic Dan but in all honesty, I thought you were very much a VC10 man!!

Another reason that puts me orft FSX...not only do you have to buy FSX but then fork out extra on an accelaration pack which is no doubt a patch in disguise!! :brick:

And do we have to make two versions of the model for standard FS.X and for accelleration.????

That Accelerration should be a free update.

Acceleration is NOT SP2 which is free and due to come before Christmas.

Acceleration is an Add-on package which adds more missions, more aircraft, and extended use of DX10 for those who run Vista.

If you do not wish to add those extra missions and aircraft you don't have to buy Acc.

As I understand it, they have included that part of SP2 that they have developed up until now, in the Acc. add-on. but the "real" SP2 will come later and it will be free.

But I really don't care if this add-on cost money. I don't spend money on other add-ons like PMDG, GenX, Horizon or what the names are, because there are so many excellent developers out there that delivers the goods for free.

But apparently I wanted to buy THIS add-on (it is really nothing more and nothing less, and has never been spoken of as otherwise) I was was just thrilled to see that some of the things we can expect from SP2 works (the texture-thingy with the windows and the propellers).

So. That's all I want to say about that issue: Buy it or not, but do NOT see it as a service pack, it IS an add-on ;-)

(Btw. I have never seen a service pack from MS that was not free, so why should this one be different....?)

Hi Dan

This one seems to correctt FS.X issues which is my only concern as it seems to do something that affects the way the models show.

Yes, and it does that because of:

Yes Nigel :)

I was explaining why I mentioned it in the first place

As to the patch.....it remains to be seen.

No reason why it shouldn't adress it but we have been let down before. :worried:

I tell you what.. I'm getting really cheesed off with 'misunderstanding' what IS and what ISN'T  I'm sure that all of us to a man understood that FSX.A was going to be all these goodies plus SP2.. the free version to be released for christmas. Since then, I remember Ben loading FSX.A on and he couldn't remember seeing any sign of a service pack with the install.
So.. what you're saying is that FSX.A doesn't come with SP2.. it's simply a payware addon by M$ which includes better functionality for Vista users.

Boy am I glad I've not bought it (or bothered downloading it from one of the many sites out there that have made it available)! An oft used acronym from my RN days springs to mind.. WAFWOTBI!! I'll leave the uninitiated to guess what the words are :bandit:
