Bristow Helicopters Wessex (wrong colours)

Post by RAF_Quantum »

Hi,

Just having a little dabble. Within the limitations of the texture map, I reckon this is as close as I can get.

IIRC Westlands had a company 'demo' or hack in that scheme?

It had 'Westland Helicopters' written in a darker blue where the 'Bristows' text is there, and of course no 'Amoco'
badge

It's when I look at stuff like John's repaint for the Wessex that I realise that we rely totally on people like DM, Rick John and countless others to keep this hobby alive.

Thanks guys.

That is super, I think that Bristows used these in the Pacific off Austraila?
Now I have no excuse for applying to the VA for a rotary wing position!

Hi,

Thanks for the comments guys, I've got this little niggle in the back of my mind re this colour scheme. I keep looking at the pic over and over trying to convince myself that the colours are correct. The Amoco logo as well as the 'BRISTOW HELICOPTERS' and 'DANGER' in red look OK. The Westland house colours is the same design scheme although in grey. I have one other pic of G-ATBY in same colours as Westland demo colours which makes me wonder if the greeny colour may be photo degradation. What do you guys reckon?

Mind you, zooming in on the G-ATBY pic (bottom one) there looks as though there is a green colour between the grey and the blue. Oh for digi cameras back then

Hi John

I only saw this livery a few times and the blue bottom struck me as odd.

I seem to remember it as grey but I can't be sure as it was a long time ago.

It may well have been blue but I feel if it was I would have noticed it as being unusual in those days and I don't.

Of course G-ASWI may have been painted different at one time .

G-ASWI, G-ATBY G-ATBZ are three I do remember in the pre red white and blue livery but so rare did they visit they may well have worn variation I don't know about :dunno:
