I put Spybot V in last week & to cut a long story short I ended up reinstalling the OS.

I have now gone back to Spybot IV

Bob
I can fly now with my fantastic new PC

Looks like I got away with it lightly then Bob. After that bit of bother I have decided to do the most sensible thing.......Leave everything as it is!!

Spybot is great... but it is not system restore (nor does it profess to be.) Please don't confuse the two, they ARE different. ;-)

Hi Ben, the problem I was faced with was after having uninstalled Spybot I had previously lost a setting on my system (nothing to do with Spybot) and after I had uninstalled Spybot I could not get the computer to restore to the date I wanted, I tried other restore dates but none worked. After removing teatimer which was still on my system (even after having unistalled by Add/Remove) the Restore option worked.

Hi Nigel,

My post wasn't aimed at you, it just seemed that some folk may have been thinking that spybot and system restore were doing the same thing... sorry for the confusion. :)

I just spotted this post - http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=20023 on the Spybot forum.

Nigel, that sounds somewhat similar to the problems you were having except it appears that in this case the problem was caused by the Spybot System Startup Tool. Anyway, I posted this for future reference if anyone has similar problems.

The Other :)

If anyone has installed Spybot Search and Destoy version 1.5.1.15 and has experienced long start-up times, a patch is available here http://forums.spybot.info/project.php?issueid=85

This upgrades the relevent .exe file to version 1.5.1.16 which speeds up the initial loading of the program.

The Other ;-)

Thanks Nigelb...Only thing there that was missing is about the restore failing to restore properly....unless I misread it.

Many thanks though will not be using Spybot again....as the saying goes...once bitten....twice shy!!
