Ghana Airways VC10

Post by BobH »

Hi,
I'm doing a repaint of the JBS VC10 in Ghana Airways colours to go with AI flightplans from 1972. It's in their old colours with the blue stripe. In the pictures I've found there is some writing or a logo on the engines, but unfortunately none of the pictures is close enough to see what it says. Would any of you VC10 experts be able to tell me what it says?
Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob

DM does an AI version of the VC 10.....I think  HELP

Or am I losing the plot.......did I ever have it :worried: :worried:

Have you check out the engines on DM's and seen what it says there?.

DM is very thorough on his research so that should be as it is. :)

Yupp DM has a very nice Ghana 1979.

A 1103, and all the paints are equally good for either his AI or his "real" models.

So no need for you to that one Bob, unless of course you want to use JBS' version....

Unfortunately I'm doing the previous colour scheme, by '79 they had changed to just having a company logo on the engines. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Erm... not just the engine:

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0094627/L/

But there had been changes:

here's a 1102 from '69
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0180827/L/

The same A/C a few years later ('70):
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0515556/L/
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0337202/L/

The same A/C a few years later again ('74):
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0403937/L/

And here we are in '79
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1240548/L/

You can clearly see that they where undecisive on the tail-fin paint and/or placement of the airline name.... :-)

Looks actually that thy had a new variant for each year.....
