Re: Something left out?
Two standout by their absences
The L188 Electra - "Grinder" short for Sh*tGrinder
and the Walrus - Shagbat
Leif
Oh yes and the Britannia was the first and only as far as I know "Whispering Giant" the name was given to it not by crews but by the press.
For an aircraft that has recieved so little love in its memory - I never heard crews bad mouth them - and they were usually referred to by
individual "pet names" At Britannia airways they were all "Baby" something - Ann, Jane , etc etc - with the exception of G-ANBB which was of
course Bridget Bardot lol - the only one I ever heard of being changed was G-ANBG more so it wouldn't be referred to as "No Bloody Good"

VC-10 - "Queen of the Skies"
Dominie - "VC-5", "Prince of the Skies"
Nimrod - "Grimrod"
Merlin - "Sheer helicopter beauty and the best damn medium support helicopter since sliced bread"
Not sure the last one works though
