Applicator of fingers. Computers very rarely break, it's usually human error somewhere along the line. Garbage in = garbage out.

I have no problem paying $50.00 for a model that I'd really love to see...like a fully functional German WWI Zeppelin. :) I'd pay Alphasim $50.00 in advance for a model like that. I guess it all boils down to whatever flips your switch...which the Intruder doesn't for me.

Well I bought it, I feel violated paying so much for an Alphasim release (I couldn't just get the base package, oh no, no doing things by halves here). The textures and model are absolutely superb and with the expansion pack there is a wide variety of loadouts and models to play with including clean and a "five wet" ferry loadout. Unfortunately the textures aren't set up to take advantage of the models, so you've got four textures in each pack and four models, and one texture is assigned to one model rather than one texture being assigned to eight models and then repeated, so I'll have to spend half an hour sorting that out later. The repaint kit is very good, nice and comprehensive and I've already started a few fictional UK G- registered ones (well it's left service and stranger things have happened!) I'm not overly keen on the flight model, there seems to be far too much elevator authority, so much so that anything more a gentle pull on the stick results in an immediate loss of airspeed and a sort of "static" stall where the airspeed bleeds away but the aircraft doesn't depart too much from controlled flight. I also think the roll rate is a little low from looking at videos of the Intruder, but again that took all of 30 seconds to tweak and in no way reflects on the package as I'm sure they worked from flight manuals and such; it's more my own personal preference. My only other gripe is that the textures in the VC are a little fuzzy; I understand they have to be compressed but I'd like to see an option for the full glorious 32 bit bitmaps in the VC, in fact I may pester Phil and the team later to see if they'll release them. Oh, and it would be great to get the sight working in the VC as well rather than just an empty sighting glass if that were possible. As I said minor gripes really. Oh, and it has that excessive almost afterburner like effect inside the engines (I'll remove that later) that the Scimitar seemed to have but again that is very easily rectified for those of us that prefer to fly without. The soundset is worthy of note, it's one of the best I've heard from Alphasim and actually sounds fantastic inside as well as out (I normally spend a lot of time in spot view enjoying the roar but the soundset for the A-6 is very atmospheric inside the pit). Incidentally the readme doesn't explain which tanks you should be emptying if you fly clean but a quick nosey in the aircraft.cfg cleared that one up.

All in all considering I've just spent a small fortune I'm fairly pleased; I'm a sucker for the A-6 (the only thing I'd love more would be an EA-6B) and I know I'm going to get lots of mileage out of this one.

This is one for the future for me, I think; maybe when I upgrade the 'the other flightsim'. At the moment, I'm busy developing my skills with their B-36, B-47, B-58 and the Valkyrie ( which now has some excellent in-service squadron paint schemes, BTW ).

Actually, now I come to think about it...isn't someone else doing a payware Intruder ? I'm sure I saw something about it recently.

If you, like me want to have ALL the loadouts and paints possible, I've got a couple of files in this thread you might want to look at.
One is a template for adding paints, the other is a .cfg for Pack 1 and Pack 2 combined and with ALL the loadouts and paints (88 of em)

Indeed, Paul. Razbam has one in the works...including the KA-6 & EA-6A/B models.

The AS one looks terrific, as expected...but I think I might wait for this one. Hopefully it'll be a little kinder to my wallet than $50 USD.
