Re: VFR Scenery
All done, tweaks in place. Will try FS tomorrow now as it's getting a little late now! Thanks again!

Re: VFR Scenery
As a cursory reminder to my last post above, I went into the cfg this morning and had a look at my settings. Bless my soul if texture bandwidth wasn't down to 40 again and terrain was at 19 instead of 21  I remembered that I'd rebuilt the cfg after adding a different GC and as a consequence.. all the decent tweaks were gone. Just goes to show doesn't it ;-)
Hope you're having some success today Rob

Re: VFR Scenery
In FSX.sp1 setting the Texture_BW to more than 40 tends to raise the stutters, but removing the blur... so it is a value that might be tested for various values.
Don't know if it has the same effect in FS9. But it seems logically that them more texture you want to load at a time the more the processor has to work.
I guess it (again) is up to each one to decide which setting gives you a good mix of reducing both bad effects.....
Try to increment/decrement in chunks of 100, then 50, then 25 then 10 until you get a decent result.

Re: VFR Scenery
Hi Dan,
It can have the same effect in FS9 if pushed beyond the bounds of credulity but 40 was a major reason for a lot of 'rubbish' seen in the old sim. As far as FSX goes.. well, that's a much different ball game isn't it. If it stutters already on standard settings.. there is no point making things worse ;-)

Re: VFR Scenery
Seems to run alot better, thanks for the help! Also, again excuse my lack of knowledge in this field, how can I see if I have FS9.1?
Re: VFR Scenery
Righ click on your fs9.exe file and look under properties.
Re: VFR Scenery

Re: VFR Scenery
Rob,
The 9.1 patch addresses a number of issues found with the original release (lack of bridges.. bridges in the wrong place) as well as making it possible for you to unlock your framerates for better performance. Ideally, you should put the patch on straight after a new load.. that way, anything you've already added won't get fiddled with ;-)
