My first thought was Humberside (Kirington) or Elsham or similar as it looks like the two refineries but they weren't built until the 60's so I'm guessing it's further south Southampton way or Thames area.

Where ever it is - they are very evocative screenshots :)

It may have been a bit of disaster as a bomber but Ive always liked the Stirling

The clue I guess for where it is would be that it was operating SOE - which would limited the number of airbases

Agree with a lot of that Leif.. in fact the only thing I don't agree with is the location because I've no idea where it is. I don't have any scenery with that many smoking chimney's. Nice shots though and a great 'subject' ;-)

Could even have been Tempsford Bedfordshire, as there was a SOE Base there, part of runway still exists and also the building where they where housed, is being used as offices now, and also part of the track of the little munitions train is still there as well,
