Yes, it's the FS8 stuff updated for FS9 with terrain. I don't have FSX, got too much invested with '9 for now! Thanks for your advice gents!

Hi Folks
Dave -
DaveB wrote:hence why the original developers made GenX.
Just for info. :prayer:

AFAIK
John Farrie created the original VFR photoscenery for England & Wales,
and initially marketed it under his Visualflight brand.

Horizon created the matching VFRTerrain.

Horizon in conjunction with JohnF re-released the VFR photoscenery under the Horizon brand.

Horizon created & released GenerationX.

John Farrie had no part in the creation of GenX.

All these products are based on the GetMapping source data.

Rob -
My apologies, I'd thought you were on FSX.
You've therefore no option but use the original FS2002/2004 packages.

Well Paul.. that's being a bit pedantic as I wasn't actually refering to personalities but it's accepted in the spirit given ;-) I don't think I actually bought any of my 2002 VFRPhoto from VisualFlight as they were a tenner dearer than Amazon at the time (although VisualFlight must have realised this and there was a huge delay between part 1 and part 2 unless you DID buy it off them) :) By the time part 4 came out, it already had the '2004 compatible' sticker on the front (perhaps part 3 also.. can't remember now) and then of course, came VFRPhotoTerrain so for most of us, the transition from one t't other was seemless.

My apologies to John Farrie if I in any way insinuated he was involved with the newer product! :D

Rob
Take a look at the VFR scenery forums and type in blurries. There is a link to an argticle on the avsim forums with a fairly extensive range of tweaks for better performance. I have used these on an older machine and can fly across the VFR scenery at about 250 kts with it sharp. One of the main tweaks seems to be the terrain textue bandwidth in the FS9 cfg file ie opening this up from the default 40 to a higher value. Mne is set to 1000 at the mo.

If I can find the link to the forum post I'll post it here for you.

Tks for that Steve ;-)

Most of us here are probably on our XXth install of 2004 and with each new install, something usually gets missed.. like changing the bandwidth!! Mine is currently running to PeterM's spec so if I have any problems, I blame him!

That one catches a lot of folks out simply because you are dealing with the game in a folder and this is somewhere else. :)

Hope you get sorted. :)
