I'm probably going to show my ignorance but I think rwy 35/17 had to be open at some point. It is certainly the widest and the second longest so why waste it? Maybe it was closed if those hangers were subsequently built, or if the original hangers were expanded.

OK i have set my 35/17 Rwy up and seeing those C54's and DC3's taking off from that wide grass strip is lovely to watch

Yes indeed Nigel and wide is good if you're trying to get an HP42 onto the ground
I think the most obvious thing is that there were probably no defined taxi lines (or few at any rate) in the real world. When sufficiently slow, you'd turn off and park up as happens now at many/most grass fields
I think I'll leave well alone and enjoy the option of 3 runways. Tks for the prod.. I'm easily convinced ;-)

From what I can tell from that map there was only one runway in 1930 - looks like 06/24. Just reading a little of the history indicates that there were substantial changes to the buildings and hangars at some point so it it quite possible that runways were added and perhaps closed later. The whole airport was closed to civillian traffic during the war and was used by the RAF - that wide runway could have been used for takeoffs in formation, but that is a guess on my part. Anyway, I am betting your spot on about the taxiways, I can't see any on that map.

Well then.. after watching my Rapide exit north to Brum on the mail run, I decided to follow the HP42 to Le Bourget..

..lined up nicely for a photo opportunity at LFPB..

I think you could have avoided this by parking as you are "supposed to" in FS ;-)
That'll be with the nose pointing the right way (parallel to the taxi-line, not across it.... :roll: )
So you got what you deserved. ;-)
Anyone knows, that you are perfectly allowed to plow through a parked aircraft if the pilot isn't capable of the simple task of aligning his 'craft correct....
EDIT: Just realised that you ARE in fact parking correct old-time-style....guess the BEA didn't consider you to be precisely at the spot... ;-)
Have had similar "incidents" if my nose wheel wasn't exactly on the taxi-line... the "behinder" would travel right through me....Kind of a tickling feeling ...

Incidentally.. the only aircraft that can park exactly as they should at Le Bourget are AI aircraft.. it simply isn't possible to get an HP42 (probably others too) to turn and park following the lines
Another airport recently visited that suffers this problem is London City (UK2000).. especially when matched with Milton's Dash7 :roll:
