Replays

Post by forthbridge »

HI all

Can anyone recommend a fix to a typical M$ bug....?

When I replay a flight, (curiously this only affects around half the aircraft on my list - not that there are too many in 9 yet..... ;-) )

The landing gear and flaps take it upon themselves to close, so the A/C lands wheels up (in the correct position just with no wheels).

After the replay ends, the undercarriage and flaps then drop to the position they *were* in...!

I think that's just the way it works I'm afraid.

From memory, when you start the replay, the wheels will be in whatever position they were before you started, and will then proceed to go to the correct position for the replay. You may also have noticed that replays have no traffic in them!

Try FRAPS (or maybe something similar) to get a proper replay, although obviously you can't switch views then.

Hi Jim

If you replay... the gear and flap reset to where they were at the point you replay starts.

But they take time to move so if you are up and clean and replay from the take off run it will come in sitting correct with them retracted and they will start to come down into their position straight away....but it takes time.

Same if you are on the ground and you go back uip they will be down but straight away start to go to their correct positions

This is not a bug as such it's just that they are set to operate in a certain way over a set time and they can't suddendly go from up to down or whatever.

Youy say though this does not happen on all aircraft which sounds little odd to me

HIya,

Maybe it's something to do with 'what' I'm replaying now - usually if I want to replay a landing I just circuit with everything down. I've got an approach in the Trident saved, and this is fine, whereas the VC10 after it's long haul, wheels and flaps stay up for over a minute of replay, and only 'come down' when the plane is stopped on the runway. I've always known the 'glitch' - where the wheels go 'up/down' or vice versa, on replay - but they've never stayed up all through the replay! I think it has shown up more as I'm not 'mucking around' so much, but it has the annoying effect that once the replay ends, the wheels bounce down and the engines fire up, sending the plane off the runway....!!!

TBH Jim

I've never come across or even heard of this before.

Maybe something has got a little confused

I'm just going to have another wee trial, I'll load up the Trident approach and then do a replay, then the '10 approcahing Mount Pleasant. I'll extend the replays as much as I can and see what happens...

Weirder and Weirder.

My Trident approach to Edinburgh replay was fine.

I then loaded up my VC 10 turning onto finals for Mount Pleasant. (The replay was fine this time!!) - except M$F$ had for some reason activated the autopilot and autothrottle, set at 160kts, and the flaps were fully down with gear up (not how it was when I saved!) - AND had also miraculously added 10,000 kgs of fuel into the plane!!!!!!

Perhaps the 'gear up' replays were just a glitch at the time they happened - maybe I better not question too much before soemthing else goes t*** up! :-#

Really you should not be changing from one non default to another non default without changing to a default first

You may get away with it but sometime the sim needs a default to set the parameters back to basic so the non default can work properly.

Autopilot is one of the functions that can be upset but not starting off as a default aircraft.

Try changing from the Trident to the Lear Jet and then to the VC 10 and see if there is any difference. :dunno:

Ah. I only use the replay to see how fantastic my landings are! That is, I never save them. I can't even begin to imagine what FS might do when you load a saved replay. :)

Aha!! :)

That makes sense - any time I've had the issue, it's been with non-default Aircraft - loaded at the start.

I've not actually got any replays saved, just flights on the run in to start approach, so I can land and then stick replay on and congratulate myself on not bouncing off/slipping etc

Cheers Guys
