Thank you Steve,

I must say that it did sort of give one a lump in the throat , I sat at the end of if waiting for the click click click of the
the film coming off the end of the reel, and Mr Marchant' (Latin and History and First Eleven at Harrow GSB) tell us
to go back to our afternoon classes (He ran the lunchtime film club - and used to have a seemingly bottomless well of
Crown Films)

Cheers

Thanks for finding that Steve.I wonder how many young folk were inspired to join the RAF by viewing such footage. It captures an age gone by,when it was not frowned upon to be proud to be British. It wouldn't cut much ice today I'm afraid. It brought back many fond memories of watching similar items at school.I still ended up as thick as two short planks! :) Best Wishes EricT

Certainly couldn't have that nowadays Eric......there was one guy smoking a pipe:o

Could they find enough aircraft to make one of these??

Even their latest in the film were about to be replaced......no talk of 40 year old front line aircraft then which would mean pre first World War

Hi Garry.Clips like this are national treasures.Bit like me really!.ATB EricT ;-)

I'm glad you said that and not Ancient Monument.

Seriously though these are really stirring stuff and I just wish there could be dramatic rousing pride in the countries achievements now. :-(

I have some of the British Airways archive videos released in the 1990's, filmed in the '30-'50's

They never failed to mention what was British when they showed off the latest wonder. :)
