Just had to post these links of two lovely poses of the old Bird in the equally lovely old Transport Command colurs. Let's hope an example will appear like this again someday.......

What a lovely old piccy....I remember when i joined the "mob" my intake got an air experience flight in a VC10 and when i got in and saw the seats were the wrong way round i thought it was a wind up  The old girl was very similar to that...

Incidently, XV103, in the first shot, was the last one in those colours, wearing them right up to its retirement in December 2000 - Yes, it's that long ago since the 'White tops' were around! :o
Curiously, I think it was also the only one to lack the 'fence' aerial on top of the fuselage. Perhaps Tonks might know why...?
...............I really MUST get out more!!

To my mind the best looking colours on the twn... although I personally prefer the C1K with the Black nose as worn in the 70's
