Yeehaaa!! FS9 here, but..........

Post by forthbridge »

Yeeehaaa!! FS9 arrived and is now installed. I cannot believe the difference over FS8 - so a big thankyou to all who recommended!

I have had a little tip in the Maltby Comet.... :o brilliant - David you should be proud of this amazing aircraft!!!

My only problem now is going to be stopping myself sitting 24 hours a day downloading aircraft and scenery..... ;-)

However, now for the problem part.... as always......
An issue I assumed was only with FS08 has reared it's head in FS9 - and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same experience or knows how to avoid this..?

The issue has so far reared it's head with the default FS9 - with the default boeings and David's VC10 so far..... if I'm flying around at an ILS equipped airport, I usually grab the intercept at maximun range and use 'approach hold' to line up, then switch it off and fly the rest manually. What happens around 50% of the time however, is that the horizontal stabilizers go to maximum 'pitch up' angle and remain there, meaning I have to have virtually full forward stick in order not to go climbing away into the stratosphere..... obviously this also makes the landing a little tricky. Whatever I do I cannot get the stabilizers to return to neutral, and even after landing and switching off all power they remain 'locked down'.

Anyone had this issue/know what to do?

(It also affects the DSB Typhoon when in flight occasionally in that the canards become independent of what I want to do.....)

This isn't something I remember seeing Jim. Have you applied the SP1 patch for FS2004? :dunno:

HI Ben,

Yes, after much fiddling I got the patch in earlier today. I've just been in FS8 again, and the same thing happened. AS I say, I have always assumed a bug in 8 . Strangely, I haven't noticed it with *all* aircraft. I'm just going to see if I can replicate it in 8 and take a screeny.

I was thinking the joystick, but then surely that would happen all the time, not just when I click approach hold!

Right, just did a circuit at Heathrow in FS8, in the Trident. The plane is sitting off on a taxiway with all power off. In the (poor) screengrab you can see the stabilizers remaining in the position they went into on approach. This happens with default A/C as well as add-ons, making resetting of flights/rebooting necessary. As I say, just wondering if anyone else has had the issue.. :dunno:

**Had another play around, and this stabilizer fiasco only happens as far as I can make out when the NAV is tuned to an ILS frequency. No amount of fiddling with autopilot or trim settings can replicate it in any other circumstance. :brick:

:-(
Cripes.

FS9 now refusing to boot at all, and FS8 getting to 30% loading textures before it gives the send/don't send.

:tab:
Got them both running again. Just a reboot needed (three actually).

Still got the stabiliser issue :dunno:
