Problem with FS2004?

Post by Techy111 »

OK before i re-install FS9 i have a problem which i cannot reolve....so i was hoping somebody may help?
In game my aircraft and ground are showing up low resolution even though i have everything maxed out...It was ok yesterday but suddenly it went back to looking like FS98 and i haven't the foggiest why ? No system updates and auto updates is off.
I have tried fiddling with my card to see if it needed tweaking but i have everything set to "application decide" and i changed the settings but still no joy...
Is it a FS9 re-install?

Hi Techy

Best to have the settings on the card rather tha application controlled.......but this is beyond that

Do you have any other games installed?.

If not load up a demo of something or perhaps that racing sim.

The object is to see if this is FS or your system/card.

It seems odd that FS9 could change overnight.

You could also try deleting your FS.9 config and restarting the sim so it builds a new one.

Hmmmmm

I'm not sure you can delete FS.X manually :o

These programme often have part in inacessable areas.....or at least areas that it is not good to play about with/like the registry and so have uninstall programmes.

Hopefully one of our experts will be able to advise

In the meantime perhaps run Crap cleaner and see if that gets rid of something unwanted.

Have you tried a system restore in case you downloaded some nasty that is taking up you processing power?

I have no idea what might be the case but the usuals as mentioned above plus perhaps a defrag would be a worthwhile action to take in any event..perhaps a disk check as well......won't hurt to do that while waiting.

Best of luck :)

Hope that gets things sorted. Could you let us know the name of the freeware program in case anyone has a similar problem? I have "Windows Installer Clean Up Utility" that I think I found on the Microsoft website but it is rather dated and I wondered if a better alternative exists.
