Re: Nvidia 7600GT AGP
Hi Peter,
I've checked my DirectX version. It is 9.0c but I can't find the correct file to check the latest version date. Where is the file stored in the file system? Looking at the searched versions on my system, and there are plenty, I suspect that I have an older than June 07 release. I'll go for an update anyway. Perhaps though, like Tom says, I'll just live with the minor problems as the performance of my sim is now so fast.
Best regards,
Andy

If you run "Dxdiag" deom the command prompt it will run the DirectX diagnostic tool which should give you the versions. If it won't run from the command prompt the exe is dxdiag.exe in the system32 directory. ;-)
Ben.

Dunno if it will immediately give you a date doing it that way but it will certainly give you the version number which can be checked against the latest ;-)

Re: Nvidia 7600GT AGP
Here is the version of the latest, as reported by DxDiag:-
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
BTW...AA problems are usually solved by Switching it to Application Controlled in the Forceware and then Ticking the AA box in FS9...You can leave the Anistropic to be dealt with by the Forceware...I have mine at x16

Hi Dan,
I don't recall seeing one as my system is set for notification of critical or security updates only plus.. I always read what the updates are before installing. It's not a problem.. just wish I'd done it myself

Sorry Ben, but I'm pretty sure that DirectX updates are offered as part of the Microsoft Update, but not as either a Critical nor a Security, hence not part of the "Automatic Update", you have to use the 'Custom' search at the site and you'll be given the opportunity to upgrade, if the scanner finds an older version.
Re: Nvidia 7600GT AGP
Hi Dan, Unless microsoft have changed policy in the last 6 weeks, DX9 updates have never been included in windowsupdate unless it has been critical or security bug that was plugged. It does not appear in the optional udates area.
this policy has changed with DX10 as under Vista DX10 updates will show under the optional updates area.
As an aside, SP1 for Vista is on its way, probably November time depending on feedback. It will contain the usual rolled up security patches etc, with a strong focus on improving the experience for the corporate user, as machines joined to domains experience defferent performance in certan circumstances to stand alone. Interestingly for us lot it WILL include DX10.1, only any good if you have a DX10.1 card (which we've mentioned before.)
More of a concern is the size. To download the multi lingual SP1 (i.e. the full thing and not just the express update version) the file size will be in the region of 1GB and require a minimum of 7GB free on the opperating system partition for 32bit OS users, and 12 GB :o for x64 based users.
Fun and games!
