Joysticks

Post by Filonian »

Hi all,

My Saitek Cyborg Force rudder (twist) has suddenly decided that it does not want to play anymore.
On takeoff, the aircraft goes in ever decreasing right hand circles and I am a bit worried it might eventually go where the don't shine

Everything else works just fine, but no amount of re-installing will correct the lack of rudder - just goes to the extreme right on testing and refuses to work - no movement either way. Potetiometer problem?

Does anyone know of a cure?

If not, and I have to go for a new one, what would you kind folks recommend?

Hi Graham.

Does it appear to work correctly in the calibration window?

Hi James,

All works OK in the calibration window - except the rudder. After a second, the red bar goes over completely to the right with no further movement either way after that.

Oh dear! Probably knackered then. :'(

My only recommendation on a new stick would be DON'T get a Logitech one. I did, and they may be better nowadays, but the force feedback on mine is very poor.

Graham..

I get similar with my old dog of a M$ Sidewinder Precision ProII sometimes. All is fine.. I take off.. I turn left.. then go to turn right and there ain't no RH control. Pull back on the stick a little to get it into a climb then pull the USB connector.. wait for the bing-bong then plug it back in again. RH control restored ;-) It's worth a try matey :)

Certainly worth a try because I have had the same problem - very rarely, but when it does occur Dave's suggestion works like a charm!

Thanks for the replies.

Tried the suggestion by Dave B and Nigel B - no luck.

Still think it is a potentiometer problem, but I am not into that sort of thing.
If I take it apart, I am sure bits and springs will fly off all over the place.

Example: - I do not get along with glass cutting - start with a picture window and finish up with a shaving mirror.

Any suggestions for a replacement?

If you like knobs , bells and whistles i would whole heartedly recommend the Saitek X52 Pro , not a FF but a hell of a stick and throttle combo for your dosh.
I have had the X45 now the X52 and would not go back......

Graham,

I use the same stick and I suggest you just buy another of the same. Force sticks don't seem to be as popular now so your choice may be limited. I agree with James, don't go Logitech - nowhere near the same quality.

Degsy

Thanks for all the replies and "tips"

I have settled for a saitek ST290 PRO at the minute, miss the extra buttons, but will have to wait a bit (save the pennies)for something else. Not really helped seeing the Scimitar posted
