DVI socket differences

I agree with pretty much everything written here & also agree that I should be ok.
The monitor I have my eye on has a DVI-D connection and comes with a DVI cable (which must be DVI-D).
The graphics card is female DVI-I, so it will fit.

I'm sure I did read somewhere that the long flat pin is slightly wider on DVI-I than DVI-D (or was it t'other way round). But the difference is the right way round to fit a male DVI-D into a female DVI-I.

This is the monitor BTW, if anyone wants to put me off or recommend another.

It's a good monitor, but your choice of retailer may be a problem if there are any issues with the monitor. Dabs customer support is a big fat zero in my own experience.

I concur with DanKH.

The Philips is a good unit; I bought an early version of the 190 in 2003 and it has given outstanding service. Good resolution and refresh rate, no dead pixels and easy on the eyes, it has given me sterling service and I seriously recommend it to all.

One thing I did find after a few days use of my new screeen was that I no longer had 'tired eyes' after a session on the old PC. That, of course, may just be me getting old............

Nice one DM.. glad you're happy with it ;-) It's always a bit of a gamble buying a new monitor without having seen it working first and quite a relief if you like what you're seeing

Hi DM.For what it's wworth,I have been using a Philips 190B for some years now and although its response times are only 25mS (which has never been a problem for me)I have been very pleased with it.Best Wishes EricT
