Dave,
I've been trying to install teh Bubble sextant gauge in the Comet, and have been able to except for linking it to the min-icons and making it appear on the VC. Any ideas?
Dave,
I managed to get a sextant mini-icon in the panel, so Ican use that.
I found out that what I really need is a view on the VC so that I have unrestricted view of the sky. I managed to get the sextant up in the VC, but have to pan a round alot (to outside the cabin) to get the desired view.
Would adding a fixed virew for this on the VC be possible? Just curious,
It's been a long time since I looked at the Bubble Sextant add-on, but from memory it doesn't actually use the view of the sky, but simulates the Star based on the Assumed Pos, Azimuth and Elevation. You shouldn't need to actually locate the sextant over the star.
Regarding your query on the other thread about charts, could you use Google Earth with the Gridlines switched on? Locate each of your waypoints centrally, zoom so you can about 100NM each side of the waypoint, and ensure the Google Earth image is correctly rotated to north, then either save the image or print it off?
Graeme,
You got it :yipeee: . I just started my maps using google earth. That was an importatn part of the puzzle. I'll just have to pan around a bit(to make it relistic ), but in reality , there is no need as it only simulates finding a star. Anyway. Will post my flight soon. Thanks again,
Good news Macs, It'll be good to see how you get on. I'm a bit tempted to try a Comet 4 transatlantic trip using the Ocean Stations and the sextant - would make a nice change from the Delco INS!
