Yak 52

Post by RAF_Quantum »

Odd one this. Described as Yak 54 but is actually the Yak 52. Got it from Simradar and went looking for repaints at Avsim. Says you need to own the VAP Yak 52 for the repaints available. A quick google shows it up for sale at a couple of sites - see link below which shows screenshots. Maybe since FSX was released it is now available as freeware? Anyway, it's a very nice aircraft but needs eyepoint adjusting in VC as per instr's from a rl Yak52 pilot. In views section of the cfg set eyepoint as follows:

eyepoint = -1.00, 0.00, .02

Hmm, interesting. I've never seen or read anywhere that this aircraft was available for free. This is definitely the VAP model...it even states that in the EULA. I wonder if this one just slid beneath SimRadar's, umm, radar unnoticed? :dunno:

There seems to have been a rather nasty spate of this recently; payware releases have been repackaged and uploaded as something different on the big Flight Sim websites.

I bought this sometime ago, having had a little tiny amount of actual 52 flying in my logbook and was and am a little unimpressed. Detail was fine, but airframe could be so easily overstressed (not that I was doing anything wrong!).

Interesting... the only thing i've heard is that there was no support for this plane, so it could have been released as freeware without anyone knowing?

However we look at it there is a possibility of 'piracy' (albeit inadvertent); can I suggest that the direct link is removed, either by John or by the Mods, so that no accusations of piracy can be levelled at CBFSIM?

Andy,

The only link I can find on this forum (i.e. in the post at the start of this topic) is for the payware one at 17 Euros.. Hence no need to remove the link. ;-)

Ben, I think you'll find that the offending link has been removed.

I've given it a whirl, are we sure it's the payware one? It's pretty rough, feels like a alpha/beta release. An old open beta possibly?
