Hi Steve
Perhaps a touch more gloss needed but then salt and weather would have dulled that down - or were the polyurethane paints coming into use at that time?

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, everyone. I'm pretty pleased with the way they look too - although I wish the FOAC barge was a little more poorly maintained so I could have added some weathering to that one too! Regarding glossiness - yes, Hobby is right, they do appear more glossy in ref pics, but unfortunately, as we discovered earlier on when I started painting them, I cannot add reflective textures as it messes up the spinning prop bitmap. We'll just have to use our imaginations for the gloss.
My aim is to upload the five paints I've done so far tonight to the Pond, which will be early morning for UK users. Then I'll probably do a few more normal FAA schemes and maybe another COD.4.
Once again, thanks for the all the research support. Clear your decks for some Gannet (Even if it's just AI ;-) ).

It might be...I'll have a look at doing that before I release the paints. Good catch there Seaking.Seaking wrote:As an afterthought, is it possible to alpha out the radome ?

WOW.
In one huge and somewhat shocking oversight, I just found out that Ito-san's Gannet is no stranger to this forum.

This post covers the questionable FDE issue and shows a solution by Kevin that was posted to CB Files. It also revealed to me that another chap, Daryl Payne, had already repainted it and uploaded a package with the new FDE :o I am treading on covered territory, but unknowingly so. Regardless, I am going to download Kev's FDE files if they are still there (he did a splendid job on the Canberra B(I).8 and also the Kaz Ito AEW.3 model which I had not seen either!
:brick: Should have looked a bit closer! Oh well. Seaking, I saw that you used the modded FDEs - how are you getting on with them?

Re: Fairey Gannet AS.1/6 COD.4 W.I.P.
I did not bother with the previous aircarft as it was meant as a flyer and the model (for me is only AI quality), with all these re-paints I think I may just have turned my home airfield into a Gannet OCU, or should that be colony!
