Embedded video problem in IE6

Post by Trev Clark »

A bit off topic, but people are always posting links to sites with an embedded player.

I can see the first few seconds of the video until the whole players disappears completely!!! I have a page where I can down load and watch some later, but only if I have the URL of the video stream, which is not always available. Can I use another browser like Firefox just for videos, or can you onle use one type of browser in MS XP?

I cannot get IE7, because MS insist that my copy of windows in not genuine.....and they have a point, sort of

Hi Trev

Not much response to your query, possibly because this site seems slow today. (I'm doing 8Mb)

You can have as many browsers as you want. Firefox I highly recommend, I use it all the time. Some old websites or those that are amateur produced do not render well so that you have to go back to Internet Explorer. Also it is said that the hackers do not target Firefox. Accept the Google toolbar - saves having to open Google, also lots of useful addons. Nothing great about IE7 so you are not missing much there.

Another good browser is BROWZAR, especially if you don't want people to know where you have been.

Whether this solves your video problem I don't know.

Cheers

Ned

Hi Ned,

The site has been slow today, largely down to the number of users and the MAXTCPSOCKETS setting on the server. It doesn't matter if you have a 200MB pipe mate, you'll be limited by the disk IO on the server... and in this case, the number of other users connected. ;-)
