Flight Sim Nirvana(in FS9 anyway)

Post by flapper1 »

Finally had graphics card failure(strange jagged anomalies spreading across screen)coupled with a noisy HD so bit the bullet and purchased a new PC. After hunting around finally settled on a small firm called Chillblast and ordered what one reviewer called the fastest PC for the money you could buy. Well, he was right at least as far as I,m concerned because with all sliders to the right, 100% AI(at least 40 pai and other freeware packages on board, high detail mesh, flight environment, ground environment, ultimate terrain, active sky and the framerate pegged at 30 fps this machine is superb. Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement but I have to tell someone in the fs world after 5 years of tweaking and cursing I really had my doubts that perfect flight simming was possible-it is. For £1,000 of course but I consider it money well spent.

Sounds like it's time to try FSX! ;-)

They seem to do some nice systems. If only I had £1000 to spare (and another £300 or so for a QUICK quad-core CPU!).

I buy most of my components from "Chillblast" and have had excellent service from them. Also...That guy that seems to own it, really knows his stuff...fantastic technical knowledge! He has never been wrong when answering my questions or diagnosing a fault.

Wow! I have the same gear as Peter Mcleland now I know I made the right choice. Seriously with 16 x antialiasing and 1660x 880(I think-I'm at work) resolution through a DVI connection to a widescreen monitor(cheap monitor it has to be said but gor blimey what a picture) I really don't need or desire FSX. And best of all I can now appreciate the talents of add-on designers and developers, freeware and payware, to their full potential. You should see canopy reflections-beautiful.

Hi,

Can you share the spec with us - OS, Memory, Video card etc ?

Do you think it's the kit itself or the way it's set up ?
Regards,

Degsy
