Do these things really retract on E3D's???

If so.. wouldn't they have them retracted when not in use??

TBH Dave....I don't think it is or as you say it would be retracted most of the time.
But I can't say for sure.

Maybe Tonks could sheds some light? Or was there not someone who worked at one of their bases?

Ben.

Okey doh..
A quick trawl through some more of my shots and this time it's ZH106. If the probe on this retracts, I'll eat my hat (as long as it's a huge jam filled doughnut)

The aircraft in the previous shot is ZH105 btw.. if that makes any difference. I honestly don't know but they look the same!

The bit that goes into the fairing/mount certainly looks like a solid join.
105 would be the same I would think..least I can't imagine one of the same batch would be different.

Re: E3-D Sentry arriving soon...
Hello mate..
No.. I really think someone has their undies in a bit of a twist. Checking further (on the RAF site this time) every shot of the E3D shows the same setup as in the two shots I posted. The Sentry is unique in the RAF that it is the only aircraft capable of receiving from both drogue and boom (the boom receive station is the bit you see painted on the roof above the flightdeck) but as far as I'm able to determine.. nothing pop's in or out as it does on the Typhoon and Tornado's
The drogue and chute probe on the large aircraft is a fahookin big bit of kit and I can't imagine there'd be room to stow it anywhere!

Dave, I get them flying over my home whilst in circuit and the setup up has always been as your photos, never ever seen a sentry without one poking through its' noooose!!
By the way the pics of the HJG version appear to be FSX......when released will it also be for FS9 or is that a silly question?
Nigel.

Nigel..
I'd guess those shots are FS9 with different water textures mate but I could be wrong (and not for the first time)
