Gatwick Herald G-CEXP

Post by Garry Russell »

A while ago the fate of one time Gatwick roof terrace Herald 209 G-CEXP was discussed

At the time I could find nothing more recent than it's removal and no indication it had left Gatwick

Well it is still there, but looking rather forlorn as this pic, taken this month shows. :-(

Well..not too late for this one

I hope someone will either save it or at least strip it for any others that are missing bits.

I just hope the pic on A.net stirs some action as I guess it is so out of the way it is getting forgotten.

I see the old girl twice a month and wonder why she cannot be craned a few fields over to the wonderful British collection at the museum, about 200 yards away!

Hi Trev

At the time she was taken down it was said that she was to join that museum.

Then it appears to have been donated to the fire service as a trainer.

They don't appear to be using it as such...........not sure if they ever have :dunno:

If they really do need a real airframe to train then why not a Boeing 737.......small enough to keep.......more representative and plentiful.........this is just wanton waste. :@

Thanks Garry, why is the 'Fire Service' always means the worst when it come to retired aircraft, I wonder if there is a way of saving her? That fire trainer is far more use to the fire department!
