Try running FSX 'Windowed' and see how it goes. My load runs a darned sight better.. in fact, it's useable now where it wasn't using 'Fullscreen'. I know it seems a retrograde step and you have to put up with the 'Not so real as it gets' blue bar across the top but you get used to it

OK.. I took the plunge and agree with pretty much everything that's already been said about the Venom. It does seem a tad fast.. moreso when you get to above 500kts and the ASI is only calibrated to 500 so that's where it stays. Thought I'd broken it (in reality.. I probably would have) I needed about 6 taps down in VC to even see the Ark on approach but I did catch the wires so that's another one I walked away from  I aimed for around 135kts which is where a Sea Vixen would be.. much bigger.. much heavier.. no comparison really but you gotta start somewhere! Will have to plonk an 'Eyepoint' gauge in the 2D and see how I get on with that

I couldn't find a nav lights switch so hit the 'L' key and checked to see what had moved on the panel.. the cockpit/instrument lights  Sure it didn't work like that on the real one but hey.. that's splitting hairs :cpu:

Not sure about the sounds but I'd not expect anything even vaguely throaty. I don't think they're far off the mark tbh

Only checked the one paint so far (HMS Eagle colours) and they look okey doh.. suitably sharp even at quite close ranges

One thing has struck me recently and it's slightly off topic. Most of the RN paints on these type of models tend to be for HMS Eagle and what's the one bl**dy carrier we don't have.. HMS EAGLE :worried: Rarely do you see any paint with an 'H' or a 'C' or a 'V' or even an 'R' on the tail so on the strength of this.. I motion that someone, somewhere makes an HMS Eagle to go with all our misplaced aircraft

The nav light are in the VC and for the people that do not have an AP Publication on the pilots notes it is on the observers side console. I would recommend just browsing the VC to see where things are. HMS Eagle is very much near completion on it's 3 profiles and anyone familiar with my work on the Kuznetsov and SU33 set will know what to expect but with improved detail and stuff as the KUZ was my first ever scenery project - commercial or freeware. The Kiev class sets new standards (I believe) in carrier addons and the Eagle is an improvement over that. If anyone is familiar with my recent work they will know the standards I set myself on the visual models and each one I try to improve on.
And yes Everybody listens at Alpha and if praticable we will adjust or try to incorperate desire within the packages (Within Reason)

Hi Pushinpolys,

Do I have to consider myself chastised by that  Saying the Nav Lights switch is in the VC isn't much cop if you're using the 2D is it  It was, as I said, splitting hairs so don't go getting all protective  Don't forget, we've paid for this experience so have some right to comment :bandit:

Rgr on the Eagle  I've not got the KUZ as Russian carriers aren't particulary my bag so I'll take your word for it! Pity it's gonna be a payware project but if thats all there is, then sobeit

Dave, one other thing you can try is to simply drag the whole window up so that the blue bar goes off screen and then stretch the lower side down to refill the screen.

cheers

Tks Allan

TBH.. I don't really notice it now, it was something I was pointing out to Chris who'd had no luck running FSX in Fullscreen mode, my suggestion being to try it 'Windowed' instead

Anyway.. I've had a lot more fun in the Alpha Sea Venom than I have with FD4 for FSX (also purchased today as a means of actually landing it on a carrier!). Thank goodness for FS9 and FD3/ArrCab

Never ment to sound like a challenge and I agree that if payware you expect views either good or bad and I have a thick skin
Try 3 wire for you carriers as it is free and there are FS9 and FSX versions.

That does look good for sure.

There just HAS to be an RAF NF3 in the line thouhgh surely? They just need to delete the pen-knib fairing and the hook and the job's done, apart from the small issue of textures of course.......

As the first jet I ever flew in was an NF3 (West Malling I think, and may have been 23 Sqdn, but it was a LONG time ago now...........) I'd love to re-live that again. Mind you, I'd have to lower the nav's viewpoint so I could only just see over the side of canopy, and my forward view was almost zero.

PushinP's..

I see now where the confusion has arisen. The Nav lights switch is indeed on the 2D.. placed in a useful spot as well as being in the correct place in the VC. I'd pulled up the electrical panel (in 2D) and found the instrument lights, De-Ice and Landing Lights together and in the absence of a nav lights switch, hit the 'L' key to see what switches moved. Of course, the instrument lights and landing lights switches moved but what I hadn't noticed was that all 3 switches on the main 2D had also moved  Too many switches and not enough eyes  Sorted

Tks for the HU on 3-Wire for FSX  Have you tried porting the KUZ over to FSX and if so, does it make the transition unscathed?? Enterprise goes over with only the loss of a couple of side lifts (they remain there.. just invisible) so if the KUZ goes over 'complete' you may have another sale on your hands (I know it's Russian but needs must)

Slightly off topic..
Has anyone noticed in FSX that some Alpha models show as Alpha and other show by their manufacturer?? If you select 'Publisher' you get 2 options from the Alpha stable.. Alphasim Ltd and Aphasim Ltd (the latter being the Harvard) If you select 'All'.. the Venom displays as ALPHA DH Venom, the Hampden as ALPHA Handley Page Hampden (along with all the older Alpha aircraft ported across).. the Sea Venom is further down under DE Havilland and the Harvard is further down still under North American  The Cobra displays as Bell (okey doh) the Apache as Hughes, MDD, Boeing.. (okey doh).. the S-55 as Sikorsky and Westland (okey doh).. the Hudson as Lockheed, Lockheed Hudson (er.. sort of). The end result is Alpha aircraft all over the shop and not necessarily where you'd expect to find em.
