A British Champion? Surely some mistake!

Have a look at this.

It's the British Speedway GP from the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, final race. Watch for the rider in the blue helmet cover. Who says all speedway races are won from the start?

Incidentally, he's up against the current numbers 1, 2 and 5 in the world

I remember the good old days, when the Cradley Heathens were the envy of the world.

That was good. :welldone:

I haven't seen any speedway for years, then I see two references to the sport in a few minutes.

This ones not such fun.

As usual there's always someone who wants to put a dampener on someone elses fun. Is it really asking too much to ask for, say, thirty to forty minutes of engine noise once a week (that's time for engines to be warmed up and then the racing - 15 races of about a minute each)?

Keith,

Look at where I live. A couple of years ago someone tried to get the circuit here closed because of noise pollution.

The Grand Prix circuit is actually in what used to be the garden of the kings summer villa. So it's also in the poshest part of town. A VERY expensive place to live.

Luckily the attempt failed, at least in part because there can't be many people there who were there before the circuit was built.
