It always interested me as an Air Cadet going on annual camps to find out just how many bases had a phantom as a gate guardian. Even though I never visited Waddington, I'll add it to the list.
The Phantom is a wonderfully agressive looking aircraft and an easily identifiable symbol of hte cold war. That example looks mint - after so many were scrapped when they were withdrawn from service because of conditions attached to their sale to the UK :sad: Lets hope this one serves its time out as a gate guard and then goes to a museum!
At Tangmere MAM this afternoon (Thursday, July 12th) I saw a new arrival, chaps there told me it was a new acquisition, grey Phantom which is in aneed of a great deal of work to bring it up to the standard shown in the screenshot. Lots of har work there.
