What should be worn where?

This is what I think is right...can't quite remember!

LH Shoulder -
RH Shoulder - Squadron Crest

LH Breast - Wings/Name
RH Breast - Nil

Epaulettes - Rank

If we are talking 'flying overalls', the basics are pretty much as you say (at least in the 70s and 80s), but I have seen many variations.

This happens with some 'old crusties' who have done a lot! We had a Master Pilot on 240 OCU in the late 70s who had about 6 badges and crests, nobody would dare comment or complain about it :lol: It may be more standardised recently. On tactical Sqns, we had toned down badges, in green and black, as the standard crests were too bright.

I think things have been slightly more standardised than when you speak of. Thanks though, appreciate it!

The standard layout is generally as you say - the LH sleeve usually being reserved for a more informal Sqn badge of some desription. Other badges appear sometimes, such as the TLP (Tactical Leadership Programme) badge, which is often worn on the RH breast, or adjacent to the RH pocket, or other individual Sqn badges (such as 72 Sqn's "FOLA" badge)... Occasionally some people have "bare" wings on the left breast, and sqn name badges (without wings) on the right - take a look at 1 Sqn for example...
