Post by Captain Pugwash »

Tks Dave. I'm not sure what the hell we can do about it as Konny is on holiday (or at least out of town) Hopefully, JP can get it back when he's off his hols. Tks for letting us know

Yes indeed  Having read the homepage again, it seems Konny and crew are away in Australia until September. I only hope we still have a fleet by then :worried:

Hi guys,

G-APMA is now back on the fleet. We had to buy her back from the VA that had 'acquired' her and we shall seek compensation from FlyNET upon Konny's return.

Tks for that John. It does seem rather unfair to have ones aircraft stolen than (later edited to THEN) have to buy it back!! Thank goodness the VA concerned were unprepared to fly stolen property!!

Hi Dave,

I think there's more to it than meets the eye.

Undoubtedy and I know of one VA who are already actively looking for another host. It's impossible to say if any 'alternative' would be better as where 'Joe Public' is involved.. the law of averages states that the more you have.. the more 'bad apples' you'll get

Well, that VA is looking for another host because of other reasons than missing airplanes and the glitches that really amount to few-and-far between if we're to believe the lack of reports on them. Yes, it sucks that there are issues, but it seems that most of them are due to the current host and not the programming itself. When Konrad and Claudio get bakc, Justin, Geoff, and I are going to push them to move FlyNET to a new server because it seems to me that when we had a period with no Error 500s we had very few problems with crashes, missing airplanes, and the like. Now that we're having them again, we're getting the issues again, so it leads me to believe that the problem is sourced with the scripts being run getting interrupted mid-cycle than errors in the scripts themselves.

That's a logical assumption Chris

John does have Konny's ear to some degree whereas I do not. I don't frequent the FlyNET forums and don't get involved with 'tittle tattle'.. much the same as I go about my day-to-day real world life. With this in mind, John will most certainly have his finger firmer on the pulse than I ever will and although I will voice my concerns to him.. unless he advises that enough is enough at FlyNET, we will continue as normal

While on the subject of normal.. what has been normal for me is, and has already, changed.. with particular reference to my VA flying. I've had a great run and a lot of satisfaction out of the 1300-odd hours VA flying I've done this year and it's time for me to back off a little. No more 'Most Hours' or 'Best Rating' for me as I think it's time to see someone elses name up there for a change. I've not retired.. far from it.. just reallocated the hours elsewhere for a while
