Says it all here.......

Should they have listened to sound advice? :dunno: Please don't get me wrong but due to that warning I made other arrangements and did not plan to go.

The airfield was/still is open for aircraft and it's a glorious afternoon. Several thousand people were already in, and although a little muddy, I couldn't see any flooding other than a few puddles here and there.

It appears to have been cancelled by the Lincs police chief constable - the excuse we heard was they needed resources elsewhere to deal with the river witham potentially bursting its bank. I think being a major event open to public cars, we all can guess the real probable reason...

We were just taxiing out in the Dak when ATC told us the airfield was shut.

They were not accepting any arrivals and after speaking with the Canberra crew who were down there we were told they were not allowing any visiting aircraft to depart either. Lots of very unhappy aircrew by the sounds of it!

We took our passengers to Duxford and there were at least two coaches parties there who had diverted from Waddington.

Tom.

Aye, the Canberra was opposite us on the pan, and we saw the crew were fairly keen to get away in the crew tent this morning. They opened up for airside departures at 1200 I think - great unless you're on static display!

Well, at least you were able to offer an alternative for your passengers Tom, that probably could not be said for the many visitors who were turned away at the gates.
