AI flight plans, yes i know..not again!

Post by fmansam »

 Hi guys
i know i have asked this before as have many others....
but!.....i am trying to get my AI sorted, to be fair i have got the afcad side and flight plan bit sorted, only as far though, of sendng a jet out and it flying back in!

i have tried all kids but im getting my self in a twist!

what i am trying to do is get about 3 or 4 jets doing circuits at a base, but leave ing a few mins apart from each other!!

whats the best way of doing this!!

(cheers in advance of your boredom)

Just a couple of finer points...If you send them on Touch&Goes (TNG) then you must make the plan VFR and not IFR...It will work absolutely fine unless the weather turns bad. The AI will then call up and file IFR plans and for the rest of the flight are committed to remain IFR, as they will never revert...Now, a T&G in IFR is an instrument approach and OVERSHOOT (they will never touch down)...AND because they will not revert to VFR then they will just continue forever doing approaches and overshoots and will ignore the flightplanned landing time.

There is a way to overcome this...just send them off near the end of the flight to a nearby base and make them do a brief period of T&Gs before returning to LAND at base. In this manner the cycle is broken and it will work fine in bad weather when they have reverted to IFR...The T&Gs will all be instrument approaches and overshoots but that last one will be a LANDING.

Here is the code for "Echo" to perform this flight on a Thursday each week:-

AC#9999,XE609,94%,WEEK,VFR,4/20:27:00,TNG4/20:57:00,010,F,0047,PAMA,4/21:00:00,TNG4/21:22:00,010,F,0047,PAYA,4/21:25:00,4/21:41:18,010,F,0047,PAMA

Notice that Echo takes off from PAMA and does some T&Gs before nipping off to PAYA for a few more...She then returns to PAMA (McLeland Field) to LAND. This plan will work perfectly in all weather conditions. Another nice spin off from this is that if you start Flight Simulator late into the cycle then Echo will start up and taxy out as usual but will cut down the number of T&Gs before nipping off to Yakutat...In fact if you are late enough into the cycle she will take off from PAMA and just go straight over to PAYA for her T&Gs there...

BTW...in case you are not familiar 4/ is Thursday. This plan is for daylight hours over here in Alaska so if you wish to use it in the UK then you could just subtract 12 hours from all the times.
