Taking a backseat from the VA

Post by fighterpilot »

Unfortunately it looks like i will have to stop flying for the VA for a little while as my fs machine will no longer have an internet connection. I have finished a nice number of flights though (150). I'll have to make sure that i log into flynet regularly so i don't get deleted.

I hope to begin flying again sometime in the future, it is certainly a great way to fly.

Hi Richard,

Rgr on that  John tells me that the script Konny wrote to delete inactive pilots after 90days is still active (we lost a pilot in the week!!) so yeh.. keep logging in to FlyNET once a month or so and you'll be fine

TksVM for your participation thus far. Get back when you can

Konny has setup the system now where it'll send a warning e-mail to remind people when they're getting close to being removed, so hopefully no one forgets anymore. :)

That'll work well in cases like this where the reason is a loss of Internet connection

Could it be a solution, that the CEO had the user-id and pwd for each of the pilots, and thus be able to "keep them alive" in cases like this? Of course by PM.

I could of course be voluntarily, but if you gave John the data he could keep you "in the warm" until problems were solved...

Just an idea. :dunno:

Hi Dan,

I think it best each pilot keeps his own account active. Even those pilots on 'extended leave' only need log on to FlyNET once every 3 months which shouldn't be too hard to squeeze in.

Thanks for the comments, hopefully i will be back flying online again in the not too distant future. Gives me a great opportunity to work on some type ratings.

On another subject i am having a weird lighting problem in fs9 since moving over to my new computer. Most of the time the lighting on the aircraft appears non existent unless i put T&L on however the performance is then not good enough. However when i turn T&L off the lighting remains until i go into map view or open up a menu etc. Any Ideas?
