AFCAD for FSX?

Post by TSR2 »

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. One of the utilities I miss most in FSX was AFCAD2. I have heard that this product will not be updated for FSX, but while bumbling about tinterweb I saw talk of an AFD file which was quoted as the new afcad. Has anyone heard of this, or better still know of an AFCAD equivilant for FSX?

Cheers

Ben,

I don't believe there is an equivalent for FSX and I don't think anyone is writing one...However, have you tried just copying an AFCAD2 file into FSX...It works fine but you can't edit it there. If you want to change it, you must edit it in FS9 with AFCAD2 and then copy it over again.

Another GOOD reason to keep your FS9

lol.... Your persistant Peter, I'll give you that.

There is a group working on something over on one of the other forums (can't remeber which one) but it will be a while I think as they seem very new to it. I'm looking into the new traffictoolbox for AI ships as I fancy having the RN cruising arround the world, but FSX is a bugger for AI without AFCAD to play about with parking.

I'm fiddling with scruffyduck AKA Jon Masterson's ongoing version of his SDE (forum over at fsdeveloper) Jim Vile the AFCAD guru is involved as well.

I'm kind of getting hold on it. Hasn't got a graphic interface (yet) as AFCAD did, but otherwise a nice little tool, that needs the SDK for full use.

I've tampered somewhat with EKCH adding and removing start points, opening and closing RWY's but not more than that. Only one problem until now I get dual signs... but I'm sure that has got a reason.

There are a couple of prog in development. One is SDE / ADE by Jon Masterson as mentioned.
Another is FS Planner. Have a look here: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4994

Hi Dave,

The FSX planner looks great. At the moment though it can't import bgl's directly, but it is a neet little tool, and very similar to afcad to use.

I think you can use SDE to decompile the BGL into XML, then load that into FSPlanner. Haven't tried it myself though
