FSx, wuurrruugghh......shudder LOL, it has its good points....too few IMHO, l find it hard to throw away a sim that runs at 100FPS with it all maxed out to one that runs at 25FPS on half sliders with no effects or AI, all for the sake of bump mapping, moving cars and self shadows

, there just not things that l place highly in my gaming experience, though l respect those where it does.
I suppose one day I'll succumb.
Yes you can make ships in FS9 and FSx, though l haven't tried in the later or even looked at the tech docs to see how it was done, learning FS9 was hard enough and l'd only just cracked it with BGLcompile etc, now l have to relearn it all again, though moving ships you can land on may well be the nudge l need to give FSx a second chance post patch which l've seen hinted at very publicly as very good....but as with any meat bought from the butchers counter, I'll reserve judgment till its cooked and served up on my plate

.
FSx is or will certainly be a better platform for shipping as they move and are land able, FS9 is limited to static ones, those that move are not land able, you could use tick 18 timers in pitch and roll so that it would heave a little, you'd need two or three for each motion with different key frames to make it reasonably random but not too exaggerated, you would also have to be careful with your hierarchy....but technically its possible and the deck would heave and pitch too.
I've no idea where FSx ships sail too and from, l think there only usable in the mission type scenario so free flight out to a ship would probably find it static and land able.
My, what a fertile mind l have this afternoon

!, and typically, little time to put it all to practise :roll: .
Back on topic, OK Rick I'll let you see whats going on as and when, both for FS9 and FSx, you never know, some of your FSx enthusiasm might rub off.
Best

Michael= yes to test both

I use FS9 & FSX.
i prefer FSX but have to continue with FS9 till it's at the stage FS2002 was when i stopped with that.
currently i am making FS9 (makemdl) models that work with both as one single file as i cannot yet make self shadowing Bumpmapped X2Mdl exports) but soon.
& Ben yes to work in FSX (Michaels too i would bet as he has the tools to make proper FSX stuff)

Rick
PS: Michael i bought HMS Glamorgan 1;96 & HMS Leander 1;96 and some of the detail sheets for Galm in colour.
