Black shapes before my eyes

Post by Jetset »

Whilst flying I have noticed a number of shapes that appear on the screen every few seconds. It can happen only every now and again, but sometimes it's constant. They are like sqaures, with four in a row. They flash for about half a second. Any ideas?

I'd hazard a guess at it being your vid card artifacting..

Does it happen in every game? Or just FS? Have you overclocked the card or anything of the sort?

I only play FS, and I wouldn't know how to overclock to save my life. It's becoming a real pain though.

Sounds like its overheating to me. I would check out what the maximum temperature that core hits when under full load. You can normally find out in the driver control panel. The card could just be on its way out. Big black shapes = overheating or faulty memory. Loads of tiny white spots = overheating core.

You might want to check to see if the case ventilation or the card's heatsink is clogged with dust.

Hope this helps.
