Rapide over Oxford today

Post by Chris558 »

Saw a Dragon Rapide at about 1330-ish over Oxford, (preceeded by a Tiger Moth) possibly Air Atlantiques on a pleasure flight. It may have operated from Kidlington (Oxford Airport). Can anyone enlighten this?

Funny you should mention this Chris. My dad kept a cutting out of his local rag up in Walsall which had a story about Rapides over Oxford. The story actually shows TM.. one of AA's Rapides in an air-to-air shot but reading the info.. it seems that it's Delta Aviation ( http://www.deltaaviation.co.uk ) who actually do this trip. Cost is £99pp or £149 per couple for a 25minute flight. Flights are running from May until Sept.. so the article says

Classic Wings at Duxford have two Rapide's and three Tiger Moths.

It was AGTM. We provide the aircraft to Delta for their Pleasure Flights from Oxford.

Cheers Tom.. I did wonder

You can never be sure with newspaper articles if the shots are current or library. Bless my old dad.. he said to my mom, 'I'll cut that article out and show it our David when he comes next. He'll know that Rapide'!!

Hi Matey..

Do I get the feeling you are connected with Classic Wings in some small way??

I promised myself a while back that when I reached 50, I'd go up in the Tiggie and as that happened last month.. I suppose I'd better honour my own wishes

That photo they use is actually one of mine, taken on the way to Goodwood about 2 or 3 years ago!

Whilst we are on the subject of Rapide's........

Dave, when you do you will not regret it!! Flying in a Tiger Moth is an experience you will not forget especially if the pilot allows you hands on.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
